Prince enjoying a well deserved break

Wednesday the 4th of July was very much a day to remember for our owners when their Guineas Breeze-Up purchase Prince Elzaam broke his maiden tag at Thirsk. Running in exactly the same conditions as his debut, he ran a very a professional race and had to manoeuvre in the closing stages in order to challenge and get his head in front.

David and the team were happy to try and defy his winning penalty at Beverley only 3 days later when stepped up in trip to 7.5 furlongs. We were delighted with his performance in finishing 2nd to the Mark Johnston trained The Trader. He came to challenge the eventual winner on the run in but just found the final furlong and its incline a little too stiff. Following his 3 performances he received an official rating of 80 which gives us a number of options going forward.

He’s enjoying an easy spell at the minute but we are keeping a close eye on entries for similar races, should circumstances like field size, distance etc come in our favour. But all roads now lead to a run at the Knavesmire on the biggest day of the year at the racecourse, Juddmonte International Day. We aim to run “the Prince” in the 6f stakes - Nursery Handicap C2 so fingers crossed everything goes to plan in the meantime.

We wish to extend our sincere thanks to all our members and supporters. YTR was created to give our members this unique experience and to have a horse that could do so in only our second year is hugely exciting.
