Prince out to show his class in Thirsk Novice
“The Prince” is reportedly in a great place and Thirsk on Wednesday has been confirmed at this morning’s declarations. There have been a few entries made previously in the event that fields cut-up accordingly but while Hamilton wouldn’t be unsuitable, the team have decided that Thirsk over the same distance should be the most ideal.
We’ve had the time to go back and watch his debut a number of times, each time we do we are more and more happy. He broke fine and jumped into the bridle. He travelled very well and loomed up to challenge before being inconvenienced by a few other horses. He was green and just failed to show real racing instinct closer to home but we are hoping for a much sharper performance on Wednesday.
It also helps dramatically that the horse who was officially a length and a nose ahead of us has gone on to win over 5f at Hamilton. At Thirsk, I Believe In You had had the benefit of a previous run and it was actually his rider’s whip that caused us to jink slightly in the last furlong. We will see how the race works out but with such a promising performance first time out, we would like to think he should be in the mix again come the business end of Wednesdays contest.
