Tough York Performance from the Prince
Saturday the 28th July gave the Prince his first outing at York Racecourse where he finished a very satisfying 2nd in the Sky Bet sponsored Novice Median Auction (Plus 10). Following the deluge that hindered Tom Jones the evening before, the ground was drying and testing but described as good to soft for the 6f class 3 contest.
He was first into the stalls and broke well capitalising on the small field size. It was apparent from the first furlong or so that the ground was not entirely to his liking. He travelled well into the final stages under a positive and calculated ride from David Nolan, to see off the challenge of the strong finishing Baronial Pride (evens fav).
Going into the race he was rated a commendable 80 and following the gutsy run the handicapper has increased his assessment to 84. This is very pleasing ahead of the main target at the Ebor festival as we are confident that this rating ensures him a place in the Nursery on the day of the Juddmonte International.
We were delighted with the turnout of our great owners and everyones positivity towards his run made the day incredibly enjoyable. A mention has to go to the Irish owners who travelled over and back on the day, the guys were a pleasure to have and we are all looking forward to having you again in a few weeks.
